What is caricatures drawing? The serious definition of caricatures technically means that a representation of especially pictorial or literary, in which the subject’s distinctive features or peculiarities are deliberately exaggerated to produce a comic or grotesque effect.
In short, have you ever seen some people sitting on the street and letting some street artists to draw their pictures which looked distortedly cute and funny? Those pictures are so-called the caricature pictures.
So among all the important points in drawing a funny caricature picture, which is the one you must focus the most?
Face
Yes, in a caricatures drawing, face is the place where you need to pay the most attention. Here are a few homework that you can do to improve your caricature skills.
- Study as many faces as possible. The best way to get your sources is from photographs or real life observation.
- Visualize the features that make a face unique. This is a point where many beginners hard to understand. Actually it is very simple, do it with this guide- When you draw a caricature, keep the person’s face in your mind. Even if you close your eyes, you know how he looks, the lighting effects on his face and how you wish his funny caricature figure to be drawn on your piece of art.
- Improve the recognizable features of your subject. In caricature drawing, if you minimize the recognizable features of your subject, you might make your drawing feel weird.This is why meticulous observation is important in caricature drawing.
